On Saturday, October 22nd CUI hosted a summit with the DeKalb County District Attorney's Office, Sexual Exploitation and Crimes Against Children unit; Dr. Audrey Day; Marquita White from Dare 2 Heal, LLC along with a number of other local support agencies at The Greater Piney Grove Baptist Church. Panelists and presenters came together to provide resources, points of contact and discuss the increase of violence in the community, human trafficking, youth conflicts and mental health awareness. Community leaders, parents, children both old an young were all in attendance and provided feedback on the changes that they have seen, how this has impacted their life and were open to new ideas on how to detect issues, who to contact and how to assist those in need. In addition, testimonial was given by various attendees on how they survived domestic violence, escaped from being in a gang, rape/incest and being trafficked.
